Anthea Turner
BASIC QUESTIONS
Imagine the scene; the iconic Anthea Turner, TV’s Golden Girl, is in heaven, and the angels are asking her some basic questions.
Did you do Good?
Did you self-promote?
Did you live your life to the hilt?
Were you ready to pay the price for your mistakes?
Gemini Anthea Turner might answer yes, or she might answer no, one thing is for sure she voted for the courage of her convictions and won through. To boot, in her mature years, she is still as cute as a button and, according to her fans, has nothing to be ashamed of.
THE CHARISMATIC SHOW STOPPER
Anthea Turner, the charismatic show stopper, grew up a good little girl with a Covent education; a cutie pie who probably wanted to be a Princess, as long as it was not Sleeping Beauty.
Her looks were “Disney heroine” – “cool as a cucumber” was her modus operandi. Scratch under the surface, and you would have discovered she knew what heartache was all about.
She told the Guardian her sister Ruth, had spina bifida and used a wheelchair. Ruth died at the age of 15.
“Her death had a big impact on all the family because we loved her dearly and spent our lives looking after her. We miss her a lot and think of her all the time.”
PRINCESS TIPPY TOES
Initially, Anthea wanted to work in public relations and have her own business. She claims she” fell” into presenting.
She swears that “ The highlight of my career was working on Blue Peter because I had the most amazing time. I also enjoyed working on GMTV, launching the national lottery, and presenting The Perfect Housewife.
Yes, Anthea wanted what she wanted and got it. Fate rushed in where fools feared to tread and the curtain went up on the Anthea Turner Show. She was a household name.
Things started to go loopy when she co-presented GMTV with Eamon Holmes. Eamon wanted her off the show, she obviously rubbed him the wrong way; he nicknamed her “Princess Tippy Toes”.
Did she steal his thunder? Was she difficult to work with?
Some considered TV’s Golden Girl was overpaid, and others claimed she was unkind to colleagues. When she sold the rights to her wedding to advertise a chocolate bar, her reputation crashed and burned; in the eyes of the media, she had made some unforgivable PR mistakes, including the claim that her lover Bruno was violent.
“He just suddenly started floundering around. He hit my chin and I fell to the floor. I curled up and then he was kicking me. Afterwards, I remember going to the bathroom and looking in the mirror. I looked terrible and I had a problem moving my jaw”. Bruno denied it, and even though she was clearly traumatised, the public turned against her.
AN EVIL EYE?
Is Anthea’s problem the Evil Eye, challenging karma, self-sabotage, Astro confusion or just an indication of some unresolved internal conflict? The latest “Hoo Ha” was on Twitter. Piers Morgan called her comments “despicable” Apparently, she had inferred some Covid victims had been lazy about wearing masks. In any event, she put her foot in it yet again.
Blame Saturn, a severe Astro teacher who will eventually help her understand she is already good enough, and letting go of material considerations, as in how much success she has and how she looks, is a viable option if she wants to find happiness. She told Lorraine Kelly that she is addicted to Botox, certainly, it helps her look young, but it will not compensate lack of self-esteem.
Her fans vouch for her. She wrote two children’s books about mice on the underground, and the kids love them. Nothing will hold her back, not divorce, not public opinion, not being considered lightweight, she stands tough and she will not fall.
TOUCHING THE STARS
So, what will happen with those angels, then? Well, they know she is gold, inside and out. That her Moon in Taurus ensures she sticks with it, no matter what happens. Like everyone, she makes mistakes, but she does her best to tell her truth, even if it is about choccie bars.
In short, Anthea does what she does with her guts. She even sacrificed herself on the altar of public opinion rather than hide her truth. As a result, the angels will give her a beautiful gift, and it will be the secret to self-love. Yes, in the end, Anthea will fly high as she touches the stars.
