No Wills, No Thrills Celebrities
Not A Euro
Your average Italian mamma would raise their hands in horror at Nigella Lawson’s statement about not leaving a Euro to her offspring. Estimated at a net worth of 15 million Nigella is determined her children should have none of that money of her’s, in other words zero financial security. She insists “It ruins people not having to earn money.” She will not cut them off, she says and definitely not leave them destitute and starving!”
It appears a flurry of top celebs are going for the “No Will, No Thrill” theory, in that they are denying that sense of “Eureka” when a handsome will is read out to inheritors. They obviously adhere to the oft said perception that “big bucks do nothing for the soul” instead! The kids will have to pull their weight, spoilt celeb juniors throwing dad’s money around are just not on.
Work Our Fingers to the Bone
Most of us work our fingers to the bone to protect our kids from the hardships of this world, yet super rich celebs believe their kids should stand up for themselves. Nigella is not the only millionaire determined to cut the kids off. Sting also insists that he is not leaving one single penny to his offspring! Since the man is worth 300 billion, one wonders what charity will get his particular “Fields of Gold? “
“Obviously, if they were in trouble I would help them,” he added. “But I’ve never really had to do that. They have the work ethic that makes them want to succeed on their own merit.”
No Massive Fortunes
Bill Gates thought to be worth seventy eight point six billion dollars will not be leaving his kids massive fortunes either. He wants to donate his “gold” to charity!
George Lucas, the Star Wars billionaire and no doting dad, hopes his fortune will support education worldwide.
“As long I have the resources at my disposal, I will seek to raise the bar for future generations of students of all ages.” Obviously no “raising the bar” for sonny Jim and your grand kids then George?
Simon Cowell is not just an X Factor Judge, and Music Mogul, he is the father of a beautiful little boy, however Simon believes passing his wealth to junior would be a big mistake. Simon has every intention of leaving all his money to charity. He wants his son to get down to the nitty gritty and survive on his lonesome!
Are these millionaire parents wrong to go for the “Let he Kids Do it On Their Own” theory? Certainly, it is hard to imagine anyone being as “Happy as Larry!” when mum and dad can’t even be bothered to leave them a gold watch as a keepsake. A doting Italian mama would say if a child is brought up with love and respect, they would manage their parent’s inheritance more than well.
Loving Parents?
The above celebrities claim to be loving parents, but they are not the only ones to cancel the offspring out of their wills. Joan Crawford or meanie “Mumsie Dearest” cut her adopted children Christopher and Christina out of her will too, “….for reasons that should be well known to them.
Marlon Brando did not leave one dollar of his massive fortune to his grandchild Taki Brando either, who was just six when his mother Cheyenne committed suicide. Perhaps Marlon’s churlishness resulted from the terrible tragedy that struck down the Brando family! Marlon’s first born son Christian had murdered his sister’s boyfriend? Marlon did not leave a dollar to grandchild Petra Brando either, the daughter of his longtime personal assistant. There was no explanation in the will as to why the kids were excluded.
Meanie Dad Eugene
Eugene O’Neill the famous American playwright and father of Oona O’Neill Charlie Chaplin’s young wife deserted his family when Oona was only two. He then reappeared when she hit eighteen but just to disinherit her. The cold hearted dad also pushed his daughter away when he heard of her ambition to be an actress. He said “All the publicity you have had is the wrong kind, unless your ambition is to be a second-rate movie actress of the floozie variety!” When she married Chaplin, who was old enough to be her granddad, he cut her out of his will completely, she never received a dime.
Perhaps some celebrities might have trouble playing happy families, others appear to do better with the “No Wills No Thrills” theory! Italian Mammas would not approve of either!
