It is not Johnny’s odd facial hair, weirdo haircut or even the news about a bombshell witness who will reveal the truth, and nothing but the truth, about what really happened between Johnny and Amber,! It is the fact that Johnny is clearly here to stay even if he has become “Tabloid fodder!” after his separation from Vanessa Paradis.

Marlon Brando once said of Johnny Depp that he was the most talented actor of his generation! We are not surprised, with that “out of this world” demeanour, handsome face, super high cheek bones, that fey attitude he simply lights up the screen!

Clearly eccentric and highly strange, a “beautiful boy” still lurks under the surface even though Johnny has a middle aged spread. In fact, few are surprised when it comes to this talented actor. Always a class act, he is not only wildly popular he has more than just a few “highly strange” surprises up his sleeve. Here are a few of them:

Johnny loves to collect false beards, we wonder whether he dons one and goes out on the town, wandering amidst us pretending to be normal!

Johnny is allergic to chocolate so whilst filming “Chocolate” and “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” fake choc was used on set with Johnny pretending it was delicious.

Johnny is terrified of dancing so when the odd pirouette is needed for a role Johnny has to have a choreographer standing behind him and supporting his every move.

His “Jack Sparrow” role in the Pirates series was based on the Rolling Stone guitarist Keith Richards. He enacted Keith’s wacko dress sense, and flamboyant stance against all odds, ensuring the movie became a bumper success and his role a “Force in its own right!”

Johnny is so afraid of clowns, he just has to see a red wig, and he comes out in goose bumps and starts to choke.

When he interpreted the gonzo journalist Hunter S Thompson, in the movie “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas”, Johnny took “bonkers” to a new level. To prepare for the role he hung out with the weird Thompson on his farm, and watched his behavior. Interestingly Thompson once said “I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they’ve always worked for me.” Johnny managed to convey exactly that attitude on screen, in fact it appeared to come naturally.

Johnny does not “act” the Mad Hatter in Alice, he IS the Mad Hatter changing emotional colour like a chameleon: is interpretation brought all our own nutty feelings to the surface, and at the “drop of the hat” to boot.

During the 2014 Hollywood Film Awards Johnny ignored the teleprompter, staggered up to the microphone said how weird it looked, then hardly able to stand straight, he slurred a few words, plus expletives, and giggled.

Johnny Depp fans stand by this mercurial, unique, and utterly gorgeous and highly strange star even in middle age! Even though he is clearly “up a stream without a paddle” these days, it is certain his current “crash and burn” phase will be but a flash in the pan.
