Felicity Hoffman
Golden Globe winner Felicity Hoffman could be described as your All American Star. Not a blonde bombshell, but certainly a bright spark amongst the Los Angeles showbiz fraternity. One cannot help thinking a fairy queen gifted new born babe Felicity with “class”. Certainly she is not super beautiful, but watch her on the red carpet and be amazed! What happened then? We mean other than the fairy queen, and a vague resemblance to fifties drama queen Lana Turner? What element was it that made her shine so as a transsexual in her award winning role in Transamerica that she became more than just a household name? She was born under the sign of Sagittarius that’s what happened and it made her so lovable and talented, a team of friends cheered her on all the way to the top. Well, not exactly, but certainly Mercury in Sagittarius made sure she used her good mind to reach her goals. First she had to overcome those teenage blips. She had a rather difficult adolescence, suffering from bulimia and dropping her weight down to 98 lbs, but therapy and self awareness pushed her through the fiery hoops, and she got back on her feet. These days, she and her husband actor William H Macey live a contented family life, away from the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. She likes her personal time; she likes her laid back environment. Her daughters would say she aint no pushover, she could be a bit of a nag actually, “pick that up, put that down!” but she sure aint no super housewife as per Lynette Scavo in “Desperate Housewives”. With that brilliant moon in Taurus how could she be anything other than strong willed with a grass roots practicality that keeps her grounded?. When everyone else is flying off into the firmaments, as per the set of “Desperate Housewives” she could be thinking of doing her laundry, and making sure the whites do not mix with the colors! Nah that would be too much to ask! The fact is Felicity has both feet planted firmly on the ground, so firmly that she and husband William Macey were awarded two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Yet she will not let it all go to her head, she will be sensible, so sensible she is the kind of girl who loads herself up with boxes of Kleenex and a thermal vest before she even thinks of catching a cold. Felicity was born in New York. Her parents divorced when she was a mere tot, and she was brought up by her mum, who was also an actress. She graduated from Art School with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, but deep down she knew life had prepared her for something else. Our theory is that in a moment of sheer frustration she asked Scotty to “beam her up” and as a result she landed a landmark role in “Desperate Housewives”. Now she had appeared in West Wing, Sports Night, Studio Sixty, Sunset Strip and more, and she could have been pretty despondent by the time they called her to audition for Lynette, the all American “soccer mum” type role. She need not have been of course. She more than hit the jackpot. But be aware there is another side to Felicity too, the side that dives her into a performance, dragging the subconscious out of her characters for the world to gawp at. A dreaded Venus in Scorpio is the reason. Joking aside, Ms Scorpio will give her performance intensity, charisma, she will be enthralling, captivating and downright entrancing. She makes it all look so easy, but remember the fairy queen, that inherent class that is Felicity’s true secret! Her Venus will make her a good friend to you. A friend that tells you your boyfriend has left you before you knew he had. (She wrote a book called “A Practical Handbook for the Boyfriend!”) She will be your staunch ally in times of difficulty, and your greatest critic if your get too big for your boots! She will not mince words. The fact is Felicity is sheer professionalism. But may be the missing link is her Jupiter in Pisces. It helped her hit the big time, it gave her that capacity to see beyond the illusion – where Scotty beams us all up on occasions. She has a vision, it is out in there in the firmaments, but also deep within her heart and soul. She could meditate, do yoga, in any event she will have her own spiritual perceptions. She can identify with the suffering of humanity. As intense as these feelings might be, this capacity makes Felicity’s performances unique. So unique we do not know where she ends and her characters begin. Her Jupiter will be her ally always, giving her the breaks she needs to continue a fabulous career. Felicity will feel like a queen over the next couple of years. She will find a deeper spiritual connection. Be at ease with the universe, not allowing herself to fall into visions of doom and gloom. Her family life will be her anchor. She will recover from any slowdown in her career. In fact, she is going to be presented with a role that will stimulate her to more in-depth soul searching. The truth is, Felicity will continue to be a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and we will be looking up at her for a long time to come!
